As many entrepreneurs have chosen both Facebook and Twitter as the foremost social tools for building their personal brands, a lot of them are constantly looking for the best way to integrate the two platforms to extend their reach.
When it comes to integrating Twitter with your Facebook Fan Page, the option of having your Twitter stream mixing in with your’s and other’s wall posts and news feeds can become a bit of an annoyance.
The solution is to add a Twitter tab to your Fan Page’s menu, keeping it separate from your Facebook discussion and allowing your fans the option to access it rather than having it clog up your wall.
There are a number of applications available to get a Twitter tab up and running on your page – including the likes of RSS Graffiti which has plenty of options and sharing tools – but in this post I’ll take you through a very quick 7-step process to install the Twitter tab application by Involver, which should take no more than a few minutes.
So if you’ve got a Facebook fan page and want a Twitter tab on your menu for your fans to access, just follow the steps below (Once again I’ll use Lynn as a guinea pig ).
7 quick and easy steps to get a Twitter tab on your Facebook Fan Page
1. First up, make sure you are logged into your Facebook account prior to installing the application. This will save you having to log-in while you’re in the middle of setting things up.
2. In the same browser, go to Involver’s App Page by clicking here. Find the Twitter application box and click on the “Facebook Install” button.
Click on the Facebook Install button in the Twitter box to start the process
3. Your Facebook account will now open and you’ll now be asked if you want to add the application. Click on the blue “Add Twitter for Pages” button to continue.
Click the ‘Add Twitter for Pages’ button to confirm installation.
4. Next you’ll be taken to the application’s settings page where you’ll need to enter a few details including your Twitter user name. Fill in the blanks, check the Terms of Service box and click “Save Changes” when you’re done.
5. You’ll now be taken to the “Last Step” page which gives you a couple of final instructions to set up the app. I’ll cover these steps next. Click “Continue to Fan Page” to move on.
Continue to your Fan Page to complete the process.
6. Now that you’re back on your Fan Page, click on the “+” tab on your page menu. Then select “Twitter” from the drop-down list and a new Twitter tab will be created on the menu bar.
Simply click on ‘Twitter’ from the drop-down menu to create a tab. If you don’t see it, type ‘Twitter for Pages’ in the ‘Search Available Tabs’ box
7. Done! You’ve now got your recent tweets easily accessible to your Facebook contacts. Remember, you can reposition your tab anywhere you want on the page menu by simply clicking and dragging the the tab left or right as desired.
All done! On the right of the page will be your recent tweets, while on the left there will be a link to your Twitter profile and a sharing option for your fans. This may take a moment to kick in, so if it doesn’t show up straight away, just wait a little bit and then refresh your page
So that’s all there is to it. Having an individual tab for Twitter is a great way to allow your fans to view your Twitter stream without clogging up their feeds with updates, as well as providing better sharing options and access to your Twitter profile.
